I stand amazed today.

In the midst of frustration, too much sugar-filled candy,  screaming 11 year olds, spitballs, and disrespect, a light was seen through the eyes of one of my boys. He is a 12 year old boy who lost his mother last year to an overdose, he is an athlete, he is a skater, he is a gentleman, he is a leader in the makings.  And at times he is unwilling to work, has low morale, and is lost inside of his own mind and circumstances because he hasn’t had the opportunity to process the events of his life.  Today was one of the latter. For the life of me, I could not figure out how to motivate him to engage his mind.  And then, as if to say, “Ms. Wrenn, I’m still here and listening to the important things, he dropped  a twenty dollar bill in the World Vision jar.  Shortly thereafter he confessed “it was my birthday money.”

He is a child who comes from limited resources, emotionally, physically, and/or spiritually.  Yet in his heart, he has set apart what really is sacred,  and has determined to do it.  This young man sowed a seed today that will reap great rewards.  Can the next generation be the generation to change the world? Yes, I believe so….starting with one 11 year old at a time.
